The Shire of Merredin advises that nominations for the Extraordinary Council Election closed at 4:00pm, Tuesday 12 May 2026. Unfortunately, no nominations were received for the vacant Councillor position.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1995, a second Extraordinary Election is required where no nominations are received.

The Shire will liaise with the Western Australian Electoral Commission regarding the process and timing for the next Extraordinary Election. Further information will be provided once confirmed.
