Merredin District Olympic Swimming Pool Bowl Investigation

Published on Wednesday, 8 April 2026 at 12:56:47 PM

With the Merredin District Olympic Swimming Pool now closed for the season, we are taking this opportunity to perform a “health check” of the pool bowl structure.
Contractors have already started leak testing, and later this month, contractors will be back to perform core sampling and scans.

These works are a vital first step in giving the Council the right information to make the best decisions for the pool’s future.

If you pass by, you might notice the water turning green – don’t worry, it’s all part of the plan! We need to drain the pool, and to make sure we can reuse the water to irrigate our local parks rather than letting it go to waste, we have to remove the chlorine. We’re also draining it very slowly to make sure the tiles don't get damaged.

We are currently working with the team at Two Dogs Mitre 10 to source the pumps and equipment we need to empty the pool.
