Local school kids and their families enjoyed a fun afternoon at the Merredin District Olympic Swimming Pool on Saturday 7 February 2026, with more than 120 people coming together to celebrate the start of the school year at the Kickstart Pool Party.

Starting at 12:30 pm, the free community event had plenty to keep everyone entertained. Families enjoyed free ice creams, a sausage sizzle and lolly bags, while popular pool activities such as the coin toss and the inflatables kept the kids laughing and engaged.

The Wiggly Worm was a highlight for the day, with children lining up to take on the challenge and put their balance skills to the test.

A big thank you to Shire of Merredin staff Rebekah and Sharni for delivering a fantastic event, and to everyone who came along on the day.
