Congratulations to Councillor Phil Van Der Merwe on his election as the new Deputy Shire President at the March Ordinary Council Meeting held on Tuesday 24 March 2026.

Councillor Van Der Merwe will serve the remainder of the Deputy President’s term until October 2027, following the resignation of former Deputy President Renee Manning earlier this month.

Having served on Council since 2019, Councillor Van Der Merwe brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as a strong connection to the community, to this role.
