The Shire of Merredin is progressing into the final design phase for the planned upgrades to Crooks Road, with construction scheduled to commence mid-August. This project is focused on enhancing road safety and improving freight efficiency, particularly for heavy vehicle combinations up to RAV7 accessing the CBH terminal via the rail crossing.
Due to the extent of required modifications, low existing traffic volumes, and safety considerations, the Shire will permanently close the Insignia Road access point at the Crooks Road intersection. As a result, Insignia Road will become a no-through road, accessible only from Gabo Avenue.
Going forward, all traffic currently using Insignia Way to reach Crooks Road or Gabo Avenue will be required to use Gabo Avenue exclusively. Access to all private properties along Insignia Way will be maintained at all times, and clear signage will be installed to assist and guide road users during and after the works.
We encourage the community to stay informed via the Shire’s website and social media channels, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to deliver a safer and more efficient road network.
