The Shire understands that many residents enjoy exercising their dogs in public spaces, and we appreciate the important role these areas play in our community. However, we have recently received complaints about dog waste not being collected, and we would like to take this opportunity to remind the community of the following:

 Dogs are not permitted on playing surfaces, though they may be walked on a lead around the outer edge of the MRCLC oval. This is particularly important as dog waste on the oval poses a hazard during sporting activities. Dogs are also not permitted in Apex Park | Danjoo Waabininy Boodja.

 For off-lead exercise, dogs are welcome at the Merredin Dog Park next to the Library on Coronation Street, or at Merredin Peak Reserve (except for the car park).

 When taking your dog outside the home, please ensure they are under the control of a responsible person and kept on a lead at all times. Please also make sure that you clean up after your pets to keep our public spaces clean and free of dog waste.
