Works will be carried out on O'Connor Street and South Avenue from Monday 9 March 2026 to Saturday 28 March 2026, between 7:00am and 6:00pm daily.
Minimal disruption to traffic is expected; motorists are asked to please follow the directions of traffic control officers while works are underway.
Please be advised that a Shire of Merredin contractor will be undertaking asphalt resurfacing works at the railway crossing located on Crooks Road in the week commencing Monday 9 March 2026. During this period, Crooks Road will be CLOSED from Great Eastern Highway to Gabo Avenue, and motorists are asked to seek alternative routes. Vehicle access to CBH Merredin and Transplus on Gabo Avenue via Goldfields Road is expected to remain unaffected. Works are expected to be completed by Tuesday 17 March 2026, subject to weather conditions.
The Restricted Burning Period is now in effect until 16 March 2026 inclusive. Please note there is no burning without a permit during this time.

Permits are required during the Restricted Burning Period from 16 September 2024 - 31 October 2024, and 18 February 2025 - 16 March 2025.
Please note the following:
Burn start date must be at least three working days from the application date (for example if you wish to burn on the weekend the application needs to be made on Wednesday or before). Burn End Date must be a maximum of 14 days from Start Date.
Please be advised that burning is not permitted on Sundays or public holidays.
Fire Control Officers are not obliged to issue permits and they may advise on alternatives to burning. Please remember Fire Control Officers are volunteers and their availability to issue permits may vary. Permits cannot be issued over the phone and should a Fire Control Officer refuse to issue a permit, it is a breach of the Bush Fires Act 1954 to request a permit from another Fire Control Officer.
