MERREDIN DOG PARK

Published on Thursday, 30 July 2020 at 2:00:00 PM

The Merredin Dog Park was built to be a haven for community members to take their dogs for exercise, fun, and relaxation.

Having this park as a safe place to visit for dogs and their owners is a concern of the Shire, and any reports of baiting and/or poisoning are taken very seriously.

We have conducted an investigation into three recent reports concerning allegations of dog baiting at the Merredin Dog Park on Coronation Street.

During this investigation, the Shire contacted the Merredin Veterinary Clinic & Hospital to enquire if any dogs had presented at their clinic with ailments relating to ingesting baits.

At this time, they have confirmed that they have observed no evidence of dog baiting and have also stated that there have been no further reports of suspected cases since April 2020.

The Shire of Merredin will continue to conduct regular patrols of the Merredin Dog Park to ensure the safety of you and your canine friends. Please do not hesitate to contact the Shire, should you have any concerns.

All incidents relating to alleged dog baiting are an animal welfare matter and should be reported directly to the RSPCA.
