Cleaner

Commencing: Immediately

Position Status: Permanent-Part time (min 15 hours per week)

Salary: Level 3 up to $53,877 p/a

Applications are invited for the position of Cleaner with the Shire.  This role will primarily provide cleaning services as at the Merredin Regional Community and Leisure Centre (MRCLC), and other facilities when required. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining immediate cleanliness and routine cleaning to ensure the Centre is clean, maintained and well presented during hours of operation through adherence to all cleaning roster duties.

Reporting directly to the Recreation and Aquatics Manager, and working in conjunction with other Centre staff, this position is key to ensuring the Centre is clean and well maintained to meet the expectations of users of the Centre.  Ideally, we are looking for someone that takes pride in their work, is flexible with working hours and has some experience in commercial cleaning.

We are initially offering part time hours, minimum of 15 per week however, there may be the opportunity to work more hours depending on the level of activities and events held at the Centre.

Position Description


Administration/Program Officer 

Merredin Regional Community & Leisure Centre (MRCLC)

Position Status: Permanent/Full Time

Salary: Level 7 range of $63,209 to $67,300

Applications are invited for the position of Administration/Program Officer at the MRCLC. This is a new role and has been developed to complete confidential and efficient administrative duties at the MRCLC and to deliver an effective and courteous service to the general public, sporting groups and community members. A key outcome of the role is to meet community needs in relation to the planning and delivery of recreation programs.

Reporting directly to the Recreation and Aquatics Manager, this position is key to the successful running of the MRCLC and requires someone that is adaptable, able to think on their feet and effectively solve the day to day issues that crop up. Ideally, you will have good administration skills, experience in or exposure to recreation program development and delivery and understand the challenges of working in a community facing role.

The Shire is in the process of bringing the MRCLC back in-house after a period of management services being contracted out. In the short term, the priority will be on the set up and development of operational procedures to deliver community focussed services. Ongoing, and in conjunction with the Manager, this role will work with community and sporting groups to identify their requirements and develop programs to ensure the best use of the facility.

Position Description


Recreation and Aquatics Manager 

Merredin Regional Community & Leisure Centre (MRCLC)

Offering $105,540 remuneration package (neg) + superannuation up to 15%

Base salary + housing + flexible work arrangement + professional development

We are looking to appoint an experienced recreation professional to manage the Merredin Regional Community and Leisure Centre (MRCLC) and drive the recreation and aquatics programs for the Shire of Merredin. This role covers the two facilities of the MRCLC, and the Merredin Swimming Pool. The MRCLC includes a hydrotherapy pool (Class 2 Aquatic facility), sport facilities (including, playing fields, bowling greens, indoor sports courts, and stadium) – for more about the facility, go to MRCLC. The Merredin Swimming Pool is separately located and is a Class 1 Aquatic facility.

The Shire has just brought the MRCLC back in-house after a period of services being contracted out, so immediate priorities includes the set up and operations of community focussed recreation services at the MRCLC, along with club development activities. The role will also be instrumental in planning for our future and, with support, lead the process of developing a Recreation Master Plan and Recreation Asset Management Plan. This role has oversight of the management of the Merredin Swimming Pool and its operations and, in conjunction with the Swimming Pool Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of aquatics services for the Shire.

The Shire is in the process of transitioning the management and operations of the MRCLC back into the Shire structure.  We are looking for someone with experience that understands the process of change and who can confidently work through the transition process with the Shire and the community.  In the short term, you will have the skills to quickly come to grips with the day to day running of the MRCLC and, ongoing, the experience to ensure a diverse range of affordable, high quality, inclusive, community focused programs and activities are delivered to the community. 

You will have the management and leadership skills to plan for the future, develop objectives and explore new directions for the Shire’s facility. And, of course, you will understand the importance of ensuring the safe operations of the facility and the need to maintain an attractive recreation and aquatic environment for the community. Ideally, applicants will have all the necessary accreditations to manage a recreation and aquatics facility.
