Welcome to the Shire of MERREDIN

Barrack Street Re-Opening

Published on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 at 12:19:50 PM

The Shire is pleased to advise that Barrack Street will be re-opened on Thursday 28th May 2020, with a speed limit of 40kph in place.

The street was closed at the end of March to enable safe queuing in front of IGA at a time when there were shortages of products (toilet paper!) and people were stocking up for a long lock down.

There is now a more reliable flow of stock to the IGA and people have returned to normal shopping patterns, so the need to have the road closed no longer exists.

We ask that you please be mindful of traffic once the road has re-opened.

Health advice remains that social distancing is essential, and complacency is our worst enemy in maintaining the State’s very good record - so keep to the 1.5 metre rule, wash your hands and slop on that hand sanitizer at every opportunity!

There may not be any COVID-19 around at the moment but we are also having the best flu season ever and it is important to maintain this fantastic record as we head into the colder months.
