Derby Day is one of the most anticipated events on the Merredin Sports & Recreation calendar, showcasing our three Merredin-based teams competing against each other in their respective sports. Burracoppin is represented in football, netball, and hockey; Nukarni competes in football and netball; and Merredin takes the field in hockey.
The first Derby for the 2025 season took place on Saturday 24th May at the Merredin Regional Community & Leisure Centre. A large crowd came out to support all three teams, sporting their colours and merch.
To begin the morning, the Merredin Junior Football Association began with the Auskick, Midgets & Junior Football. Following this, an interclub scratch match for boys & girls ages Years 5 – 11 was held by Burracoppin Football Club.
