The Shire of Merredin is undertaking important upgrades to Crooks Road aimed at improving road safety and enhancing the efficiency of freight movement, particularly for heavy vehicle combinations up to RAV7 travelling to and from the CBH terminal across the rail crossing.
As part of this reconstruction project, Insignia Way will be closed as a through-road to Crooks Road for the duration of the works. The project is scheduled to commence in late July, with road closures to begin at that time.
Due to significant modifications, low current traffic volumes, and safety considerations, the Shire intends to permanently close Insignia Way as a through-road. An application to formalise this permanent closure is currently being prepared for submission to Main Roads WA.
Moving forward, all traffic that currently uses Insignia Way to access Crooks or Gabo Road will need to use Gabo Road exclusively. Please note that access to all private properties along Insignia Way will be maintained at all times, and appropriate signage will be installed to guide road users.
We encourage the community to stay informed via the Shire’s website and social media channels, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to deliver a safer and more efficient road network.
If you have any questions, please contact the Shire’s administration team on (08) 9041 1611.
