MERREDIN RECRUITS FOR CEO AFTER SUCCESSFUL GROWTH

Published on Monday, 18 December 2023 at 10:07:12 AM

The Shire of Merredin (the Shire) has announced the search for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the resignation of current CEO Ms Lisa Clack who is stepping down for personal reasons after two years of dedicated service.

The recruitment process is expected to attract a strong field of candidates following a period of strong growth and performance by the Shire in recent years.  As CEO, Ms Clack embarked on an exciting and ambitious program of works including delivering the first stages of the CBD and Apex Park Redevelopment and initialisation of a number of water, sustainability and desalination projects. The Shire also tripled the size of its previous roads program with the groundbreaking Wheatbelt Secondary Freight Network build program on Merredin-Narembeen Road.

Ms Clack has also overseen the completion of a municipal heritage inventory review, reconfigured the Merredin Regional Community & Leisure Centre services, commenced a Local Planning Scheme review, and achieved a clear financial audit from the Office of the Auditor General in 2022/23.

Shire President, Mark McKenzie thanked Ms Clack and said the Shire remains in a strong position thanks to the foundations she has laid.

“During her tenure, Ms Clack has achieved a great deal and shown unwavering commitment and leadership to the community. Her departure will be a loss for the Shire of Merredin, however, she leaves the Council and the community in a strong position,” he said.

“On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank Lisa for her exemplary service and wish her the best in future.

“The Shire is now searching for the right person to build on this success, momentum and growth. Recruitment is underway and, with Ms Clack  agreeing to remain on site to enable a smooth transition, we are confident that there will be minimal disruption for residents.

‘The community can rest assured that the Council remains committed to delivering quality services, and its current program of works.”
