SCP REVIEW – COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUMMARY - FEEDBACK SOUGHT

Published: Thursday, 19 April 2018 at 3:39:41 PM

The Shire of Merredin is seeking feedback for the summary of community responses for the Strategic Community Plan (SCP) which has recently been undergoing review.

The SCP is a guiding plan for Council comprising the community’s aspirations for Merredin for the next ten years. It undergoes a major review every four years to access what goals have been achieved and to set new ones for the next ten years.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Rebecca McCall, commented that she was pleased with the huge array of responses received from the community during the recent review period.

“Some of the comments made Council are aware of already and we’ll continue to look at ways to address these issues but it was fantastic to see such great discussion around economics, sustainability, industry, youth, aged care and the future of Merredin,” she said.

“Independent consultants, Creative IQ, have done a great job compiling all of the data received from the two independent forums conducted, the Community Create Booth held at the Merredin Show and through Loomio, the online forum that community members could participate in. All of this feedback has resulted in a ‘Summary of Community Engagement’ which we would like the community to review one last time.”

The ‘Summary of Community Engagement’ was placed on the Shire website and members of the community were invited to submit comments to admin@merredin.wa.gov.au. The submission period closed 4:00pm, 4 May 2018.

For further information please contact Rebecca McCall on 9041 1611 or email dceo@merredin.wa.gov.au.
