The Shire of Merredin has successfully secured grant funding for an inaugural memorial festival to be held in Merredin from Friday, 24 September to Sunday, 26 September 2021.

The Shire received a total of $35,000 through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ Regional and Remote Festivals Fund.

The Regional and Remote Festivals Fund is a program delivered as part of the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program (RACIP), which supports arts and cultural activity at regional and remote festivals in Western Australia.

The Merredin festival will showcase the unique characteristics of the town including Aboriginal culture, military history, and our agricultural industry. 

The weekend will include war story illumination projections in Barrack Street, coach tours, an outdoor sunset concert, as well as a possible market day and military parade.

The Shire of Merredin was one of eight successful regional organisations which share in the funding to deliver events and activities in the regional areas. Members of the public, community organisations and the business community are welcome to actively participate in the planning of this event and can submit an EOI via the Shire of Merredin website.
