Welcome to the Shire of MERREDIN

Funding Confirmed for CEACA Seniors Housing Project

Published on Thursday, 1 March 2018 at 12:00:00 AM

The Shire of Merredin is pleased to advise that the Central East Aged Care Alliance Inc. (CEACA) has recommended that the Shire signs contracts with Pindan Contracting to commence construction on the landmark CEACA Senior Housing Project.

The WA State Government has recently confirmed its commitment to providing $15 million of required funding for the construction phase from the ‘Royalties for Regions’ funding scheme.

The regional aged housing project will see 72 Independent Living Units (ILUs) built in the Central East Wheatbelt to provide ageing-in-place housing for senior residents living in the region. 26 of these ILUs will be built in Merredin. Construction of the first units is expected to commence onsite in late March 2018 and it is anticipated that the project will be completed in 2020.

Residents in the Shire of Merredin interested in either renting or buying one of these units are requested to add their names to the waiting list - please contact Vanessa Green, Executive Assistant, at the Shire on 9041 1611 to do so. Details on units, purchase prices and rentals will be released soon.
