What do I need to do to install a swimming pool?
- A building license is required prior to the installation of a swimming pool within the townsites of the Shire of Merredin.
- Prior to the filling with water of a private swimming pool an inspection of the barriers (gates, fences, walls etc) must be undertaken by the building surveyor.
- An annual inspection fee of $11.00 will be included on the rates notice of a property on which a swimming pool in installed.
- The Shire of Merredin is required by law to inspect all private swimming pools in its jurisdiction at least once every four years.
- A procedure has been developed whereby owners of properties on which existing swimming pools, which are not contained on current Shire records, can be registered. The procedure can be viewed on this website (XX).
