How do I dispose of asbestos?

  • The Shire of Merredin maintains an asbestos disposal area at its landfill site, the Merredin Landfill and Resource Recovery Site, Chandler Road, Merredin.
  • The site is approximately five (5) kilometres along Chandler Road, to the north east of the Merredin townsite.

  • Admittance to the Refuse site to dispose of Asbestos will not be granted without evidence of a paid (a fee of $33.00/m³ applies)  Asbestos Disposal Record. This must be paid at the Administration Centre during normal office hours prior to taking asbestos waste to the landfill site.
